Absolutely, I think that Haymitch and Maysilee’s romance is almost parallel to Katniss and Peeta’s. Thats why he is so drawn to actually making an effort to helping them. And I really wanted that connection between Maysilee and Haymitch to come out, but at the same time convey that Haymitch is extremely conflicted because in the back of his mind he can’t help but think, eventually someone is going to kill her or I’m going to have to kill her. This is why he puts on such a tough guy show and tries not to get attached. But eventually he does, and then he loses her. Which really contributes to why Haymitch becomes an alcoholic.
